Its out of an NH. transfer case is a lot bigger and the extention housings different. Now i have to take it back and get another one or find someone that will swap it for an NG one.
I just purchased a 1986 Pajero Manual (the true Mitsubishi service manual) and it covers everything except the gearbox. I find that strange and frustrating because I only bought it for the gearbox knowledge.
I downloaded the Montero manual off mitsubishilinks. It had more on the gearbox than the pajero one had. I emailed the gearbox section to mate who's doing it and after looking at the diagram he thinks it will be easy. Have to change extention housing to put the NG transfer case on it. I'll be selling the NH transfer case if anyone wants it.
i'll have to re edit the data base i put up as it only assumes that the gearboxes are the same, not transfer cases as they have superselect etc in the later models
If I agreed with you, then we would both be wrong
'89 NG Paj, 3L V6, now running 2" suspension lift, 33" Micky T Baja Claws's, Front LOKKA & 12,000lb winch
ITS IN!!!!! I got it in today, only had to knock roll pins out of the 3 shift linkages in the extention housing and in pulled apart. I did'nt swap bellhousings and found out when it was all back together that the NG slave cylinder doesnt match the bolt hole on a NH bellhousing. Slave cylinder was stuffed any way so it was getting replaced, just had to take the new one back and swap it.I checked out the old box and the counter shaft is bent. NH transfer case is going on ebay in a couple of days unless someone on here wants it, cheap!
I purchased a complete manual box in excellent condition for my 1986 Pajero yesterday for the incredibly expensive price of $50.
I paid $440 with the transfer case, cheapest 3.0 box i could find in Melb was $660 without the transfer case. Then a new clutch and slave cylinder added another $350, clutch had a little bit left on it but i was'nt going to pull the box back out in a couple of months to replace the clutch.
i'll have to re edit the data base i put up as it only assumes that the gearboxes are the same, not transfer cases as they have superselect etc in the later models
Box is the same, bellhousings different where slave cylinder bolts on, extention housings different and the wires on the NH reverse light switch are too short. That was the only differences i found.
