Instead of clogging the "What did you do Today" thread, I thought I'd make a thread for everyone to share pics of their Challenger's in amazing locations and to post general pics of your trips away in your Challengers.

On the Friday just gone, We left Kalgoorlie heading 380km East towards Rawlinna on the Trans Access Rd that follows the Trans Australian Railway line, We camped just outside of Rawlinna the first night.
The plan on Saturday was to go south to Cocklebiddy to refuel and then to head North to Neale Junction on the Connie Sue Highway, Camp the second night at Neale Junction and then follow the Anne Beadle Highway to Laverton and then home to Kal.
We left Friday lunchtime towards Rawlinna.
The Trans Access Rd was excellent and could easily maintain 90KM/H on it without a problem..
Some interesting things along the way, Such as finding a Mk. 2 Escort in a tree:
I also had a Kangaroo (Mother and Joey) pace me for about 1200m doing about 65KM/H (She's just to the right of my UHF Antenna)..
Camped Friday night just past Rawlinna..
Got up early Saturday to head South to Cocklebiddy to refuel for the trip North (Damn those 70l tanks! Gotta invest in a Long Range take real soon)..
Thats when things changed.. We we're only able to average about 30km/h while crossing Rawlinna Station and Arubiddy Station, The scenery didn't change at all (read: Boring!) and about the only thing interesting I saw saw was the culling of ferral cats:
About 20 stock gates, some very average and rocky tracks and several hours later we made it to Cocklebiddy..
We refuelled, had some lunch and decided where to go from there..
The original plan was to head North again, Join the Connie Sue and camp at Neale Juncrtion.. As it was already Midday, We figured we wouldn't make Rawlinna until about 4pm and then had some 300km to go on to Neale Junction.
Neither of us expected crossing Rawlinna or Arubiddy stations to be as difficult or time consuming as it was.. the tracks are so rough that I shook off both of my Hella 4000's ... Time for Nylock nuts and Loctite!
So I devised a plan to head south, find some coast and camp near the beach and push as far west as time would allow until we rejoined the highway to head home..
We went south west from Cocklebiddy on some very average, rough and some very overgrown tracks..
There was about 50km to the coast, We averaged around 15KM/H due to the harshness of the tracks..
Here's a shot of the Challenger and my dog just before a very steep and rocky decline..
Once we cleared the rocks, we found sand.. lots of sand!
We stopped and camped for the night after a very slow day (230km in 8 hours!)..
In the morning the plan was to follow the coast as far as we could until mid afternoon and get back onto the highway and head home as we both had to be back a work in the morning..
We left camp and found more and more sand and the further we went the softer it got..
The escarpment followed the coast and contained the beautiful (very soft) white sand well.. It was all we could see!
Then things started getting difficult for the Patrol.. The Challenger was lighter with slightly larger tyres that bagged out better at lower psi and kept the challenger out of trouble..
Unfortunately the Patrol found a fair bit of trouble..
Alot of sunday looked like this with the Patrol getting stuck badly 4 times and destroying a set of Maxtrax in the process..
You'll notice in the Pano, The Challenger is sitting on top of a dune up ahead and I've come back to lend a hand..
We finally got the Patrol out (It was sitting on the chassis and diffs in the sand) and onto some firmer sand, We pushed ahead in the Challenger to see if we could find a way out..
We ended up finding one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen..
There were seals on the beach, In the shade of the cliffs and a pod of whales just off the beach.. I could have stayed for days!
The beach and dunes were untouched, I was so glad we found it.. The only tracks in and out we're our own, I'll be going again for sure!
But as the above photo shows, There was no way forward.. So we retraced some of our tracks, found the highway and headed home.
All these pics are off my phone, I'll upload and update the post with pics from the SLR with Whales/seals and other interesting stuff in the next day or two..
The Challenger performed faultlessly and it was an amazing trip!Last edited by RMX; 12-09-12, 09:25 PM.The first XROX equipped Challenger.

Some photos of a recent trip following Madigan's line across the North Simpson . Took 4 days to travel 790 Km from Mt Dare to Birdsville and used 136 L of fuel.
No back seats for this trip - had 7 jerry cans stored in the back.
Made our own track from camp 2 to 6 ( no access to 3,4,&5)
The second and more serious puncture of the day - this stake was 7 inches long when we pulled it out
After camp 6 we decided to stay on the track - though we still were only averaging 20 km/h
a fire had passed thru the day before and was still burning far south of us,
Preparing dinner !
A desert moonrise !
One of Madigan's campsite markers.
