    Non genuine filters..

G'day all. Looking at giving the car a full service with filter changes. Just wondering what are your thoughts on non OEM filter kits. They're certainly cheaper than Ryco.
    Thanks in advance. John

I have been using fleet guard / nippon max / wesfil with good results.

For me anyway the ones i tend to avoid are sakura (lower quality) and ryco (over priced)

Sakura make around 7.000 part numbers for OEM/OES as well as aftermarket.

OES stands for Original Equipment Supplier, while OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Lower priced would be a more accurate description.

I buy JS filters from Brett’s filters. Look up on YouTube a comparison between oil filters, JS comes out pretty much at the top.

I've had no problems with Donaldson. The earthmoving place near work is a distributor so the cost and convenience works out for me.

Sakura may make OEM parts where they are contracted to build to a certain level of quality but i havent had good experiences with their normal range.

I think there isa video on youtube where a guy cuts up various different filters.

I remember the sakura fuel filters also had a pretty average efficiency rating

Agree on Sakura, I had the misfortune of using one. No damage to my dual cab but quality is appalling.

Another option might be German filters.

The German cars seem much more precise on their requirements, or less tolerant.

I've been using German OEM filters on my German car and on the Pajero, the likes of Mann, Mahle and the like. All seem to work well over 100k miles later.
