Default Serpentine Belt.

At my last service it was suggested that both belts should be changed in the near future.
In a moment of keenness I purchased a new v belt for the AC and a serpentine belt intending to replace them myself. The moment never came, I decided to leave it to next service.
That service took place today. I was advised the belt I had supplied was the wrong one, too short.
Iíd assumed the parts place Iíd used for years would get it right na hadnít checked

This afternoon I looked up the Gates catalogue to see what was what.
I was sold, some 7 months ago now, receipt long gone, a 6PK1495. The correct one apparently is a 6PK1515. A grand difference of 20mm.
According to the catalogue, the 6PK1495 fits the RWD version of both the challenger and MN Triton.
The 4wd versions take the 6PK1515.
Both have the same 2.5L engine.

Does anyone know WTF the difference is between the 2 engines? Surely Mitsubishi didnít need to change something?

The RWD version has a low power version 4D56. I'm unaware of what is different regarding the pulleys though.

I share your frustration.

Have a 4m40, and 3 4m41s amongst mine and sons Pajeros and Tritons.

Catelogues suggest they all have slightly different length alternator belts, but even when you buy them by the book they don't frikken fit

Every set of specs I see list the RWD Challenger as same engine, power and torque.

I know RWD Triton MN is certainly lower power. RWD Challenger may be same, But AFAIK were not ADR compliant, like Pajero Sport RWD, so were not brought here.

EDIT: Of course there are loads for sale on carsales.com.au. LOL
