Hi Guys.
I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 turbo diesel and it started chewing out the inner alternator belt. I have discovered the alternator was getting so hot it was literally melting the inner belt. I hope I am correct in beliving the regulator is built into the alternator so I have changed the alternator but still after running a couple of minutes the alternator starts getting to hot. I have tried taking the positive wire from the alternator off, and then it will run cool however if I then connect the output of the alternator to the positive battery terminal it will run hot again. The alternator is indeed putting out voltage. I have checked all connections and battery terminals to make sure they are clean and connected. Bearings are free and easy. This is perplexing to say the least. I really have no idea what would cause this. Anybody been there done that.
