Default ASTC Lights on and Cruise Control not working

Hi All,

As you can see from the title both ASTC lights are on and Cruise Control not working on auto PB.

Checked taillight fuses (and all others) and are OK.

Could it be a brake light switch thingy connected to brake pedal that might be on the blink? Not sure it even exists.

Appreciate your thoughts.

If the ASTC and the ASTC OFF lights are constantly ON and the Check Engine Light and Brake Warning lights are OFF then this condition can be caused by many things.
You really need to get a OBD2 reader and get the code or codes that are triggering the warning lights.

Do you have anything plugged into the OBD2 port?
Sometimes even a dodgy connection can cause the symptoms you are describing.

Thanks OJ.

Only thing plugged into the port is scan tool and throwing no codes.
This only connected after the problem turned up.

Because both CEL and BW lights are not on I have been considering Vehicle Speed Sensor because it has an impact on ASTC/ATSC OFF and Cruise Control if malfunctioning.

Going to check circuits next. Will take a few days because of time constraints.

Also wondering if VSS is responsible for auto gear shift now at higher revs - especially in 1st. Mmmm!

Might be off to dealer for full diagnostic if nothing is obvious.

During the recall for Lower Control Arm inspection/replacement the 'experts' damaged the wire on one of my front wheel speed sensors, which caused the symptoms you describe.
A dodgy plug/socket would do the same thing.

Auto gear shift happening at high rpm, this could be a P1901 fault which is a communication error between the Engine and Auto Transmission ECU's.
Have you been through deep water lately?
If so it might be with removing the electrical plug off the trans and giving then a squirt with contact cleaner.

I've had that recently which could have been caused by a bad OBD connections to my lock up mate. Unsure as yet. I had P1901 on the trans ECU. Reset it and remove lock up mate and all's OK atm.
