    60,000Km service

    G'day all,

My NW2012 is due for a 60,000km service. We travel and tow a caravan a lot and I was just wondering if there is anything I should request to particularly have looked at because of the towing we do.

Also wondering how much this 60,000km service will cost.

Planning to go to MM in Queanbeyan for the service...any comments here?

    Thanks,

    Gerard

As you tow a lot I would be getting auto oil changed. Unsure when this is scheduled though.

Thanks. Yes, I change oil and filter every 7,500km. No worries there.

Every 15,000km I take the car to MM for service with my own oil being Valvoline SynPower 5W40.

MM in Queanbeyan quoted me yesterday $580 for 60,000km service which seems cheap considering they have to adjust valve clearances.

      Reckon they got that wrong?

      Cheers

If it's any guide to your situation, capped service prices are listed on the MMA web site. For a MY2012 before October 1 it's $580, post Oct 1 it's $645. So perhaps your dealer is on the money, so to speak.

I agree re Auto Transmission Service, I told my local dealer I wanted it done at 75,000kms when I booked it but then they didn't do it as they don't normally stock the oil. Hello I did book it in for this, so I will be taking it to the local Auto Transmission expert just to spite MMA. I have done a bit of heavy towing in central QLD in hot weather so that's why I want it done.

I guarantee they won't adjust the valves, they will just 'check' the valves by listening. Ask them if they actually adjust, and if they say yes make sure you put something in place so you can check up on them. You can hear the difference if they are adjusted anyway, much quieter for a few hundred kms.

Ensure tappets are adjusted. Mark seals if required.

Auto trans service interval is 195k for normal use.

100k service interval is more reasonable, especially if towing. Full flush and filter change.

My auto trans service center recommend 40k 12month service interval however this is over servicing in my mind.

Paul service book for NW says at 60k service valves will only be "audible" checked.
