I am a new member to your forum having only found all this wonderful info yesterday while looking for info on a couple of issues I am having with my 2010 Exceed (NT I believe )
My Exceed was ex Corporate from South Australia, I purchased it in Perth where I enjoyed it for 4 yrs before relocating myself and Paj to NZ a little over 3 yrs ago. Has been a fantastic vehicle with no issues until recently.

My direction indicators no longer flash when locking or unlocking the vehicle and I am not aware of the precise time that this happened or of any changes made.

Now at 109,000kms and for a little more than a year and approx 30,000kms the vehicle has developed an obvious yet minor shudder. The shudder is very specific, it happens only at a combination of 1500 rpm, 5th gear, 80kmph and coasting with light accelerator pressure.

I would welcome any thoughts and feed back on either of these issues and thanks to all for the great info I have read so far.

    Best regards
    Brett Thomas
    An update:
Shortly after my original post I had the transmission fluid pumped out, flushed and renewed at local Mitsubishi dealer/service center, prior to having the work done I raised the thought of flashing the computer to alter the Trans lockup speed and was told that renewing the Trans fluid (with the appropriate Mitsi fluid) would do the trick.. Also probably need to run for around 300 kms to settle the Transmission back into correct working order...
10.000 kms on .... and no change ;-)

      Identical issue in my NT

      Kiwozi,

I have exactly the same issue with my NT Exceed Auto.

I have spent a lot of time and money trying to fix it, but no luck to date. I have replaced the torque convertor, had it to 2 different trans specialists without success, tried factory fluid and aftermarket fluid. No change at all. I have tried a number of solutions provided on this forum

I have it booked into the dealer this week to try the software fix, however I have read that some transmissions don't accept the software update. I am hoping this isn't mine however I have had it to a dealer previously who was unable to find a fault or update the software.

I will let you know how I go as I have been living with it for years now. Hopefully my trans will accept the update and the problem will be finally fixed.

I am also interested in where the 'software update' link is in this forum to change the lockup point. This seems to be the only area left for me to explore.

There is a known problem with older firmware where the frequency of the lockup PWM combined with other rotational masses can cause the whole car to shudder (mine did it really bad). The problem usually occurs as you describe, between 75-100 KM/hr and only when coasting (very light throttle).

It's going to save you heaps of time and money if you get this checked first and it is the real source of the problem, as it's an easy fix.

          Hi Powerslave
see your around Brisbane. I had Gold Coast Mits re flash last year before towing the van up north where I was in manual mode most all of the trip. On return the shudder is still there and maybe worse. Could you help as to which Mits dealer flashed and fixed your shudder, please? I would like another try from a known 'positive' source.

No positive updates. As mentioned above I had the firmware checked at Mitsu and is the current updated version. In case it was harmonic from the large heavy transmission guard, I replaced the steel one with the aluminium one an dreplaced the transmission crossmember bushes. Seeing that there was a firmware upgrade one could suspect they know the issue but have not been able to fix it ?? Else there are the other 'non-transmission' drive line possibilities... universal joints, kinked tail shaft, diff. Just guessing here, but I too would love to not be putting up with the shudder.

Cheers, just brought an NT with 320 odd kms. I have noticed a shudder and not sure if its the same as posted here. However it is around similar kms, light load etc. Its almost if the trans faulty as such and its not going into the next gear properly if that make senses or the torque convertor is locking/unlocking. I wonder how hard it is to replace the tcm with one from a NX and try it.

I wonder if this would help. If you do a search on the interwebs, this transmission can have issues in certain Tojo`s etc. So maybe the NT has the version/generation that it is a inherent problem.

It has been suggest on some sites to use this.

Thats interesting. Could well be. Am currently towing in west Qld and have never noticed the vibration / harmonic thing when towing. Yes it might be an inherent issue with the trans. CHecking its use across other vehicle brands is a good idea. Shall have a look at your repco link latter. Thanks.
