Triton tow bars

Hi All, Do the tow bars from the later models fit the short bum ML. Did Mitsi extend the tow bar when they lengthened the MN tubs or lengthen the chassis? I need to extend my towbar past the end of the tray. Thanks

They didn't lengthen the chassis to the best of my knowledge (just a longer tub) but I'm unsure if they changed the bar - they may have simply used a longer neck?


You could try searching the part numbers or look on some aftermarket websites, eg, Allins here in SA, for clues. Note they may have changed the wiring kit also.

MN towbars won't fit on an ML.



With the MN the tub was lengthened by 180mm but the chassis remained unchanged.


To take up the difference the brackets for the towbar were increased in size, enormously, in order to place the hitch just past the rear of the tub.

So if the chassis stayed the same and only the tow bar brackets extended then shouldn't they fit the ML?
I have been stalking Tritons at work and will dive under a couple with a tape measure and camera. Will post the results, if I don't get locked up.LOL
I have removed the short bum tub and fitted a tray so longer bar should fit. hopefully
I have not seen the bar in the photo on a triton up here.

Perhaps have a chat with a towbar specialist - chances are they will have already tried what you want & will know if it works. Those that make their own bars can probably make what you want if it isn't available off the shelf - I have found a local one here that was very helpful - they are worth finding.

As teh MN tub is longer the towbar brackets will likely foul on the rear of the tub. This will be due to the reduced rake of the longer brackets.
