    driveshaft rotation

Hi guys, basic but hard to find question:

    1) what direction does the rear driveshaft rotate to go forwards - clockwise or counter clockwise?

    2) does the front propshaft go the same direction for 4wd?

    Ta!!

I suppose, seeing the drive is going through a transfer box as well as a gear box, the drive shaft could be engineered to turn in either direction. I'd have to get underneath and have a look to find out.

You only have to think about top gear ............. not overdrive where drive is straight in one end and out the other and transfer is the same. To reverse direction would be both complex & costly in that it would require extra gears and would also loose torque/power in the drive train by doing so. Biggest drive train power loss is thru 90 degrees in diff so I'd hate to think what a 180 degree would do and more so why one would need to ??
You could throw the gearbox out and just put a steel bar in it's place and all you would be doing is running in fourth gear full time. .............. hence same direction as motor

^^^ Correct. And the front shaft rotates in the same direction.

Think that's clockwise looking from the front.
          Cheers, John.
