Default 3m tape and flexible solar panel

Has anyone used 3M tape to mount a flexible solar panel directly to the roof?
I have heard of people doing it to camper vans, thinking of doing it to the Pajero but don't want to be the first.

Can you go first and let me know
Looking at options for my NW. Doesn't look to be much info on here.
I like the idea of mounting (somehow) directly to the roof, I have a spare solid panel but I can't find method to mount that I am happy with.

Anyone else got any ideas?

I know zero about mounting solar panels but I reckon the uv would destroy double sided tape pretty quick

But I can tell you that frameless bathroom mirrors are often fitted with a combination of double sided tape and adhesive silicone.

The tape holds the mirror in place until the silicone cures and then the mirror is in place forever. Should work on a car roof

Removal is an absolute b@#$%& but the trick is to pull a thin wire along the back of the mirror to slice the silicone (easy) and the tape (bloody hard)

This may not be very good for the paintwork though

You,ll be sorry if you stick it directly to the roof. Heat is a big killer of solar panel output. You need air to travel under the panel to get rid of the heat build up. Get a couple of cross bars and mount a panel to these. I have 2 x 80 watt panels on my NW roof (get about 12 amps using a good Victron regulator). One is mounted on 2 cross bars and the other is on the floor of the alloy roof rack.

read on the net somewhere that if you put some core flute under the panel this will help but as dicko said they need air flow so don't tape all the way around the edge leave a gap to let it breath good luck
