    Mt Remarkable NP

Great spot only 3 hrs north of Adelaide, easy drive bitumen all the way,
We headed up last weekend and found plenty of good camp spots within the set out camping area of Mambray creek http://www.nationalparkguide.com.au/...le/camping.cfm
$17 per car per night camping, hot showers great facilities and enough room for the kids to ride there bikes around for hours,
Lots of wildlife including Emus, goannas and kookaburras and tons of birds, there are a number of walks / trecks to do, which are all mapped.
also we took a day trip to Melrose via the Bridle 4x4 track which was steep in some sections with a fantastic view of the Flinders ranges, all up around an hours drive,
all up a great spot to get away to, its getting a big tick in my camps 5 book !!
    ,,
    cheers
    happy camping

I take this area so much for granted being 'just out the back door' but it is truly a beautiful part of the country.

Hancocks lookout off of Horrocks Pass gives great views across Spencer Gulf and south to Mt Remarkable Nat Park. Alligator Gorge just out of Willmington gives eastern acess to the Park and is a good contrast to Mambray Creek.

A great 'hidden' location to visit is Bartagunyah Estate http://www.bartagunyah.com.au on Survey Road, just 5km from Melrose. For a fee there are self guided 4WD tracks on the property that provide some great experiences.

With time to spare exploring Block 9 Road / Wirrabara Forest and then including some of the local 'tastes' of Melrose, Wirrabara, Stone Hut and Laura make for a very enjoyable few days.

    Cheers

Hey Greenmonster thats a lovely spot hey. The walk thru hidden gorge and up the ridge is pretty good. What did you think of the Bridley track? Ive driven past that sign so many times on my trips back to Whyalla and said ive got to do that!!

        Hunty,
A couple of photo's showing the bridle track and view from the top. For some reason I don't have any photo's of the bit where it's a bit rocky and steepish. Either the start or end depending which way you are going.
You wouldn't go out of your way but if you're heading in or out of Melrose it's a nice detour.
