When I was young, poor and playing around with Holden Geminis, the weber carb off an Escort or Cortina (or was it Falcon? - I cant remember) was a common upgrade for the 1.6ltr Gemini.

A couple of hundred bux for a re-ground cam, a second hand Weber off a Ford, a Weber adaptor plate and you were on your way with a hot little machine in the day

The book on standing wave ratios is the theory behind pulse tuning isn't it?
Blutak is a 1990 NG EXE, 2.6, blue faded paint, 412 000 km, extractors, bump and droop stop shave, 100/130w globes in stock lights (inc melted plugs...), saggy springs, shocking shocks, crap tires, loose nut behind the wheel.
Blutak, cos thats all that's holding her together. ..
Now she has 485'000km, same everything with a 2.5' pipe, straight thru muffler and cat delete. Also a set of leaf springs from a 96 triton that gave me a $100 2 inch lift.

It has been 30 years and I no longer have the book but I seem to recall SWR's were critical and it was to do with the length and diameter of the intake immediately before and after the venturi's and how this effected the airflow. The book also included practical info on tuning, jetting, mixtures and air-bleeds so you got the maximum out of the Weber. Once the Weber was sorted the next issue we had was "point bounce" at high rpm's so electo-optical points replaced the mechanical points, there were quicker cars in a straight line but off the bitumen and throw in some twists and turns and the cars average speed and control was impressive.

        cheers, old Jack.

Does your 89 have the electronic carby or the conventional carby?
my 91 has an electronic carby and it picks up till 4000, but i don't like to go above that as it is a tired motor (cars done 600,000, motor swapped at 400,000, unknown kms)
If you have a look around on the Sigma-Galant forum, they go into more detail about how to make the 2.6's power move up the rpm scale. You just have to find the right threads as the 2.6's are mixed in with 4g63s and 32s.
Here are the manuals for the electronic carby and the conventional carby.

          Hope this helps,
          thanks

Also, the stock solex on pajeros (astron models) is supposedly the 32-35 DIDTA, which is almost the same size as the 32-36 weber that is commonly swapped onto the 4g32 1600 motor.
