Start by eliminating the easy things first.
1. Is the blower fan working?
2. Is the air dampener control working correctly?
http://faq.out-club.ru/download/paje...710AC00ENG.pdf
3. Are the inlet and outlet heater hoses both the same temperature? This is checking coolant flow. Sticky bypass thermostat or gelled coolant. Genuine coolant and thermostat used ?
4. Are the air pathways of the heater core and AC evaporator clear. If there are blocked you will not get hot air or air conditioned air?

So why was the thermostat changed?

Has the problem only been noticed after the thermostat change?

Was the coolant changed at the same time, if so genuine or other coolant used?

Hi old jack
the thermostat was changed to a gen mitz one, as it was overheating!
I checked all the things listed and stated in earlier posts ....
still two days ago , the heater went cold and engine temp flew to H ,
immediately pulled over, the radiator catch bottle was sucked dry, very
carefully released rad cap pressure and the amount of pressure released
was increadable!! and it refilled catch bottle
let it sit for a bit , heater hot, engine temp normal....
then some 1hr later, same deal ..... heater lost temp, engine temp rising again

gremlin somewhere

Could the cooling system have an air block in there that needs to be bled?

Best case is there is air still in the system from when the thermostat was changed.
Worse case is head/block problem, new engine under extended warranty.

I would be parking the car with a nose up attitude and running the engine without a radiator cap until the coolant temp was 90C, the thermostat opens and is circulating coolant so all the air is bled from the system. Shut the engine down, top coolant up and allow to cool and then top up again. Refit radiator cap then fill overflow bottle to the low mark and monitor overflow bottle levels every day.

If the coolant level in the overflow bottle decreases every day then I would be getting and exhaust gas in coolant test done by a radiator specialist.
