Passenger front airbag safety recall

Hey guys just wanted to let you all know that mitsi have just sent me out another recall for the passanger front airbag this time so for those of you bought a NS PAJERO privately wont get the letter you can still get it done tho👍

Bummer. I'm waiting for Mitsi to be honest and tell me my '04 NP has affected Takata airbags but don't have the new parts to replace them yet!

Got my letter today re the front passenger air bag.....will ring in near future.

As discussed before its easy to update your details with Mitsy either online via mitsubishi website or calling local dealer.

Yeah not sure on what years the takata airbags are affected its a massive recall as mitsi said its not just limited to mitsubishi but toyota and nissan as well i think he said plus others who used takata airbags, i also rang about the rear airbags as my kids sit in the back but they said that no safety issues with them AS OF YET!

I got mine yesterday for the passenger airbag as well. Had the drivers side done earlier this year but the horn cover is the original one. I thought the air bag and cover would be replaced but I'm not sure. does anyone know if the horn cover gets replaced.

Takata now bust

Not sure if you heard the news but apparently Takata went bust.

Im not sure how it will affect the recalls but I doubt they will get done if Takata cant trade any more.

Hopefully some accountant decided to include the cost of the recall into their balanc sheet then declared them bust as a result, so that the money is still allocated for the recall.

In Australia, the recalls are the responsibility of the car manufacturer, not the component supplier, so MMAL will continue to conduct recalls as required (hopefully not too many more). MMAL will be "out of pocket" if they can't recover the costs from Takata or their receiver.

I don't think the horn cover gets replaced, only the airbag module inside.

Does anyone know whats involved in replacing the passenger air bag.

I called one dealer and they said the whole dash needs to be removed

Called another dealer and the said they access by going underneath by removing the glove box.

Im not keen on having my dash removed.

Anyone know?

When I booked mine in they said they only needed it for 1 to 2 hours so I don't think the dash comes out.

Just booked mine in, they said need 3/4 of day, to pull the dash out.

Could also be an excuse to make me leave it, rather than hang around & wait.

Booked ours in 17th August for both air bags. Was told 4 hours.

Dash does not need to be removed......passenger airbag is accessible from the opening when gliive box is removed. Well thats what mt friend at local dealer told me.

And correct.....its MMAL responsibility for the costs to replace airbags or any recall, not Takata. Up to each individual manufacturer to recoup costs from Takata.
