Default Footwell lighting

Any one found the cable that goes upwards to the courtesy lamp so to install some footwell lighting too?
There are plenty of 12v strip lights that could be installed, just need to take off a spur from that cable???

Thanks in advance

Have not checked it out, but possibly the fuse for the courtesy lights are in the fuse box behind the glove box. Would be easy then to use a fuse socket wire tap (available from Jaycar) to tap into the circuit to provide switched power to foot well lights..

I don't know the wiring arrangement, but normally the fuse is well ahead of the light switch, so the footwell lights will be on all the time. You have to tap into the circuit going up to the lights themselves if you want the footwell lights to come on only when you are accessing the car.

As you say you would have to look at the wiring diagram for the courtesy lights to see where the fuse is, but they are controlled by the body computer that does the extended switch off and fade out, not by a simple switch.
Would be worth checking to see if the fuse is live all the time.

The computer based service manual has wiring diagrams that would tell you what fuse to piggy back from.
About $30 from eBay from memory.
