Well, the tires are coming over the course of the week so we do not have any pictures yet.

In the meanwhile, we did a lot of other things of course.

First of all, we painted the entry white, because that reddish look was awful

IMG_1162 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

After that we provided the wall with self-adhesive carpet, which looks a lot better. The plastic parts are just positioned to show how it will be.

IMG_1168 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

Connected a charging point, nobody can live without it anymore

IMG_1172 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

The next step is, of course, to put the carpet on the floor
First, based on the old carpet, the new carpet has been cut out

After the edges have been cut to size, screw on the covers again

IMG_1183 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

Also neatly finished at the entrance

IMG_1201 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

After fixing the plastic parts it looks like this and we can rest assured that this part is ready. Now only the chairs are left.

The UAZ's interior has been replaced, but since we will take guests with us, we need to have enough seats of course.
For that purpose we had already bought 4 extra chairs. With the 2 already available we have 6. For now we will mount only 5 seats.
For the sixth place we are looking for a folding chair, but this is only needed later.

The chairs looked ok, but we decided to restore them anyway.

So, first, we took them apart

In the meantime we found a new passengerseat with a big discount

IMG_1175 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

After restoring we started the rebuild

IMG_1210 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

Try out of the set up as we had it in mind

IMG_1215 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

IMG_1216 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

Still a lot of space for the cargo

IMG_1218 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

      Ow, that is too short

IMG_1220 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

Luckily we have plenty of space so we moved the middle seats a bit backwards

IMG_1222 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

      Seats must be secured properly

IMG_1232 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

Fitting in between, the frames are painted black again

We still have to do a lot of small things, but we will manage that of course.
On Friday the new tyres will come, and then we will be able to go to the mountains without any worries

Great thread, really enjoying following your progress.
Looking at the seat mounting from below the vehicle....... I don't know how thick the steel of the floor pan is, but I would be putting bigger washers under those nyloc nuts. Much bigger.
Picture this: a large strong man gets on the UAZ. Sits down. Realises he's carrying his wallet in his back pocket and that won't be comfortable for long because he's rich and his wallet is fat. So he plants his feet firmly on the floor, and pushes his back into the backrest to lift his butt off the seat to reach his back pocket....and... PING! The nuts under the floor pan pull their way through the steel without too much trouble.

Keep up the good work, the UAZ is looking very nice now!

          Starjunk,
          thanks for your reply.
I think you have a valid remark there so we will have a look at it.

          Regards,

Starjunk is correct but make sure they are both larger in diameter and thicker.

Enjoying the build thread and awaiting the test drive report.

no, we never take a chainsaw, maybe a small handsaw.

This year we got a workshop "how to make a fire with cowshit"

and yes that worked, with the cowshit he collected we had a nice fire.

Local farmers collect the cowshit and press it together, then they put it on the roof of the farm and the stables to dry, we tried this "prepared" shit too and that burned actually very well. Nevertheless we decided not to take the cowshit in our car with us

Your scenery is certainly beautiful, just different to what I am used to.

Well, as promised I have to finish the story for now after we returned from our trips.

We got the new tyres, as said before we bought the 215/90.

Mounting and balancing the tyres (although I am not sur balancing will do anything with these tyres)

IMG_1271 by Jaap van der Kooij, on Flickr

Besides a lot of small things we also isolated the hood a bit as it was getting very warm. Over this we put a layer of self-adhesive carpet.

During the trip we had to do some repairs as we expected, but it is an UAZ of course

After the trips we evaluated the UAZ and found a lot of things we still want to change.
                            1. Motor upgrade so it will run a lot better on 92, as it is now for 80. We hope to get some more power out of it.
                            2. Replace the carburator for a more efficiënt model
                            3. Replace the shocks as they are completely gone
                            4. Repair or replace the gearbox, it is not-synchronised and second gear is horror
                            5. A lot of small stuff….

For now we put the UAZ in the garage, so it will survive the Siberian winter.
