front diff backlash?

Just had the NP 3.5L serviced. The agent says it has a little to much front diff backlash. I was wondering if fitting a diff locker assembly would solve the issue or what else would have to be replaced.

as part of the instal they would adjust the backlash.

so to just get just the backlash done might cost $400

install of the locker (including the backlash adjustment) might be $600
