Yeah, I did have a read of NJs post. I got quite excited by it too. After a quick look at diagrams of each ring and pinion between the gen 2 and gen 3 I think it will work a treat. Im assuming Ill need the later 9.5 diff which is a shame as Ive got a 9 diff here already (from a triton though). I see the gen 2 3.5 came with 4.636:1 ratio. Would this be about right to keep my overall gearing about the same with 32 tyres?

Hi Vovo,

You have the same gear ratios in your 5 speed Jatco auto as the auto fitted to my Cjallenger, only difference is your torque convertor stall ratio is 1.62 whereas mine is 2.04. Your diff ratio of 4.3 is about 9% lower than the 3.917 in the Challenger.
Factory tyre's for both vehicles are 30.5"/776mm diameter going to a LT235/85R16 is 32"/810mm diameter so this is a 5% increase in circumference.

Considering all of the above I would fit the tyre's first and see if you are happy with the outcome before changing diff ratio's. The INVECS grade logic of the AT electronic control of the PCM may cope and modify the gear shift points enough. However if you were towing, especially heavy then changing the diff ratios to 4.631 would be best.

Cheers. I’m glad the gen 2 ratios will work. At least I know now if the torque converter slips it won’t cost an arm and a leg to gear it back down. Thank you to you and NJswb for helping me out with this. Much appreciated.
