Anyone that has installed a OEM nudge bar either ML or MN had any problem with the license plate? I see in the fitting instructions for the PB nudge bar there is a license plate bracket. I am looking at a MN Triton bar off Ebay and wondered if it will obscure the license plate without having the OEM license bracket that comes with the PB bar.

I remember reading that some one had installed the bar without the license plate bracket. He ended up getting a defect for obscured plate. I think that was in the ACT from memory.

How hard would it be to get or make the plate to space it out?

        In Queensland the following applies;

Transport Operations (Road Use Management?Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2010
30 Position, visibility and legibility of number plate

        (1) The registered operator of a vehicle must ensure that each
number plate issued for a vehicle is permanently attached to
the vehicle so that, if the vehicle is on level ground?
        (a) the number plate is?
        (i) in an upright position parallel to the vehicle?s
        axles; and
(ii) not more than 1.3m above ground level; and
        (b) unless an accessory plate is attached to the vehicle in the
way required under section 37?the characters on the
number plate are visible from 20m away at any point
within an arc of 45? from the surface of the number plate
above or to either side of the vehicle, in the way shown
in figures 1 and 2 at the end of this section; and
        (c) any cover on the number plate?
        (i) is clear, clean, untinted and flat over its entire
        surface; and
(ii) has no reflective or other characteristics that would
        prevent?
        (A) the successful operation of a photographic
        detection device; or
        (B) the number plate from being legible; and
        (d) the number plate is in a clearly legible condition,
including being clearly legible from any position from
which it is required to be visible.
So as you can see it?s sub section (b) that applies in this circumstance. The number plate must be visible from a 45 degree angle no matter what the arc.

Triton and Challenger Nudges Bars are different... Apparently the Challenger's is slightly wider...

If they're different, someone should tell Mitsubishi; here's a Triton bar fitted to my Challenger:

This is straight out of the box with no trimming etc required.

Just to bump up an old thread.

Got a ML nudge bar and although the fitting looks straight forward, I'd just like to confirm.

Can someone please email the fitting instructions to: dylan at rmx .net.au

                                Cheers.
