    Odometer Jammed

I loaned my paj to my 21 year old on the other day so he could get to work (he has a Suzuki Sierra 1.3 soft top - which used to be mine) as the fusible link on his car had fused.
Just noticed that the odometer is now jammed as it was passing through a change to a "000" number. The speedo works fine (checked accuracy against the GPS) but all i get now is a constant clicking sound - seems it is trying to roll over but someting is broken/jammed.

Really would like to keep the integrity of the actual Kms (190,000 is where it is jammed) so a straight swap is not my preferred action.

Is this any easy fix?...... or will I need to take to a specialist. If a specialist is required could anyone recommend someone reputable on the east side of melbourne.

    thanks

Just replace it and keep the reciept and old gauge as proof.

Yeah....I expect that this is the sensible thing to do and a damn site easier that trying to fix myself or overpaying someone else to do it.
I have managed to find a replacement cog set for this on the web but looks extremely complicated and the margin for error by myself is large.
Have you ever attempted a fix like this?

Not sure that you would want to. Since handing over my Sierra it has cost ME a new engine, new shocks/springs and some panel beating.
Not actually saying (out loud) that the odometer problem is down to him but...he has now been officially banned from the Paj until things improve!!!

Have done a few replacements myself on different cars and getting to the actual dial for the kilometers is quite a pain.
Even more if you not just need to get the right numbers but need to fix something too.
If they stop and only click it means something is either broken or misaligned, the last can be fixed if lucky no parts are needed.
But broken parts are almost impossible to repair without the proper replacements.
The most simple and cheapest way I used is by selecting a speedo showing less k's than the original and to use a drill to get to the right numbers.
                  Time consuming but easy done.
While breaking your fingers in the dash anyway it is a good idea to invest a few bucks and to replace the light bulbs or upgrade them to LED.
Mine usually burn out shortly after I worked on the dash, just to rimind me I could have changed them in time...

Thanks for the suggestion. The pain of it is that I have only recently had all the globes in the dash renewed and was hoping that this area of the paj would be the least of my problems....should have known better.
I tried to call the guys at Ringwood speedos but they are holidays until the 21st October...so will just have to put up with the clicking until they return. In the scheme of things....small potatoes!

In the mean-time try giving the dash a good slap as you're driving, to encourage it to click over properly. Might get you another 1000Kms!
