A mate of mine had his NJ 3.5lt DOHC done by Gas Research which cost him about that. But now the low fuel light does not work and the Engine check light is always on when on gas. Has been told that this is normal for Pajero's.

    HOWEVER...

Mine (NH 3.0lt) was done using an Impco system by All-Tek Automotive in Dandenong. They replaced the original fuel tank with a 65lt LRA Auxillary tank, the low fuel light still works, and my Engine check light works as it should. Pretty happy with the job and I was only $1250 out of pocket with the rebate.

I just had a EF ford sedan converted total price for the conversion was $2450. (non-injector type), surly there is not such a big differance in the gas hard ware.

Where are the going to mount the gas tanks / are they going to relocate the petrol tank?

I own a 95 NJ LWB 3.0. Had it converted to LPG, Duel fuel, back in June 2007,
Paid $3100 (less the $2000 rebate) with a 85ltr gas tank, & had a 65ltr fuel tank made up, Ive got seperate guages, very neet job, I had a few minor teething problems, (to be expected) but nothing major, engine runs fantastic after conversion.
At the moment, I cant think of the name of the company that did the conversion, they are on Vesper Dve Hallam.
I have a none injected Impco system, very happy with it.
To start with, I rang Impco systems in Melb, & asked them who they recommend to do the conversion, they said use this company on Vesper Dve Hallam, they are higherly recommended by Impco.
Dont use any other brand of gas system kit. Otherwise you will have problems.
Give Impco a call, (their in the Yellow pages). Ask them for a recommended installer in ur area, or ask them for the name & phone no. of the installer in Vesper Dve Hallam.
Good luck. Let me know how u go.

        Regards
        Stuart

The making of the smaller fuel tank is where the extra cost comes into it. They have to make the tank & relocate it down the left hand side, between the sill panel & the rail. Thats what they did with my LWB, I suppose SWB would be the same.

Apparently on the dohc 3.5 nj, you need an emulator type thing to symulate that the injectors are workin, im told this is about 600 buks and without it, the ecu light will stay on... im sure not all systems are like this though, but its worth following up.

The induction type is probably the type you have been quoted.. and yes.. the ecu light stays on.. not sure about about the low fuel light.
Not the best system to get.. though it works

The injected system works with the cars computer so every thing works as normal.. or at least for me.
I would like to question the 65lt tank size though... mine is 50lt.. and there is no room for anything bigger... i have actually run mine empty (by mistake) and it would not tank anymore than the 50lt.
