Hi all,
Well after many years of wanting a real 4WD and having a couple of softies (Forester and an Escape)I finally got one. It was about time as I am the only bloke in my family who doesn't have one.
It's a 94 NJ 3.0 manual. I got it for an average price with 300k on it. I convinced the wife that we needed it as I am towing the family to QLD from Tassie and the Escape is not a good towing vehicle.
I do all my own mechanical work so I wanted the 6g72 for ease of repairs.
After I bought it I did a compression check and discovered a burnt valve on cyl 6. The seller disguised it with a leaking exhaust flange. I should have known better but can't do anything about it now. So I am doing a top end rebuild.
I have got new suspension for it and am replacing the fluids and rear transmission mount. It has great tyres, new MAF, unis and muffler.
I am slowly working my way through all 150 pages of Gen 2 posts. I am about 1/3rd of the way through and have most of my questions already answered.
Thanks for all the great info!
