    Hope this helps

hey there i got noisy heads and looking for a converson myself would u still have the phone number for this converson kit by any chance

Sorry I've been away in Chevy-Land (US of A) for a while so I haven't replied. Thank you all for the feedback and ideas. For me it does look like replacing the engine with a bigger unit is not going to be anything straightforward at all. Again, if its a done thing then there'd be plenty of examples around. I'm going to get in touch with another mechanic I know, to see if he's going to let me contribute some elbow grease...

If your main need for a bigger engine is more power, I think your money would be much better spent warming over your current motor.

Fitting a good quality turbo/intercooler kit to the 3.0L V6 would be a whole lot cheaper then doing an engine conversion and I think the results would be much better anyway, more power and importantly LOTS more torque.

Thats the option mate I reckon!

only prob is the SOHC 3L isnt really the best of platforms for this, there is bugger all performance parts

That's something to consider indeed Richo-NT. Never thought about that, wonder what it'll do to my already lousy fuel consumption though...

HOWEVER, from what I know, bolting on a blower is a good thing IF the base engine is in any condition to handle the extra work. In my case its like giving viagra (or whatever else they're flogging these days) to a bloke with a heart valve condition (i'm referring to my CAR - stop smirking!).

Firstly I'll have to get the valve job done on the engine. My original consideration was to install another engine altogether, instead of doing the valve job.

I have been dreaming of putting a Lexus V8 in my Paj mated up to a TH400 0r 700 these gearboxes can be adapted to the "marks supplied transfer kit adaptor. I reckon the engine should fit due , especially since theres a guy on here who put onde in a 4WD Delica which are virtually Pajeros but different body. V8 Explorers here in NZ are 25 grand so my old Paj with say $6000 invested would be pretty good..............
                  $1500 .....motor
                  $2000......kit from marks?
                  $1500.........gearbox
                  $1000.........a bit of muking about!!!!

Surely over the years someone has dropped the 6G72TT into a paj. How where they orientated in the Mitsu GTO's, north-south or east-west? If north-south then everything is facing the same direction as the paj. Will need some custom plumbing but could be an option. Half cut from japan.

These 6G72TT is east west mounted and will bolt up to our gearbox like the magna motors do.

There was a guy that did one and had it for sale on ebay... looked like a nice piece of kit

if you go to the delicaclub.com site and do a search on user 4zbeach you will see some pretty awesome pictures of this now completed and registered delica ( Legally engineered), but it was a lot of work and not a straightforward conversion.

My 4m40 has gone bang again (Crank pulley came loose) so now I am stripping out the motor and diesel bits. I'm prepping for a 1uz-fe V8.I have met a guy who has bolted up the V8 with the Lexus bell housing to the Pajero gearbox (Aisin Borgs are the same box!!) .You do have to remove the pajero input shaft and pump and swap it for the Lexus one. Engine mounts , ECU , exhaust and Certing (NZ requirement) and away I go. My goal is to fund this with selling the complete 4m40 .A rear sump V8 and box sells for between $1500 and $1900 . And the 4m40 goes for $2000 up .............could be dreaming but who cares
