Hydraulic Trolley Jack & Axle Stands - What works?

    Hi Everyone,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but I couldn't find a suitable section/thread.

I'm upgrading my hydraulic trolley jack and axle stands as the ones I have currently will happily fit under the car without actually lifting it .

Can anyone recommend what amount of lift/support is required for the Pajero Gen4's?

I can find a trolley lift that'll give a max saddle height of 535mm fairly easily, but this seems a bit low for the Pajero?

If this isn't enough, then I could always chock it up on blocks to give it a bit more lift, but wanted to know what everyone else uses before I buy?

I do most of my own work on the cars (brakes/suspension/all-round servicing) so want to ensure I get something suitable.

    Thanks,
    Andy.

    Hi Andy,

My trolley jack has a 495mm Max height and it requires a 40mm thick hard rubber pad on the jacks lifting platform to lift high enough that the rear wheels are about 30mm off the ground. This is with 26mm over diameter tyre's and factory, Old Man Emu or Bilstein shockers, with extra long travel shockers such as Ultimate and Dobinson the off the ground clearance is only a few mm.

My jack stands are out on loan at the moment so I cannot check their height, from memory they are 445mm high but I do require about a 100mm thick solid wooden platform under each of the stands.

    OJ.

Cheers OJ, certainly sounds like the 525mm jack and 600mm stands I've found should be suitable.

Apologies for the weird double spacing of the first post too!
