Hayman reese hitch does not fit MM towbar receiver | File instead of angle griner?

Hello,

I picked my old mans hayman reece WDH today and was surprised that it would not fit into the genuine MM tobar.

Towbar receiver has rounded corners but WDH tongue is square.

I have seen a few different posts on this and the fix it to use an angle grinder on all 4 sides of the tongue.

My issue is I don't have an angle grinder, so could I use a metal file instead?

If that will not work or will take forever, I will see if someone at work can assist otherwise try and find a local company that can help me out.

Of course you could use a file if you are very patient and/or have a lot of spare time.

Maybe not so bad if you have access to a decent vise and a good quality metal file with a decent handle. Otherwise it could possibly be an exercise in frustration..

Hi you could try one of these from the big green shed. $29. And don't forget to use safety glasses.

You would need to watch you don't take too much off. It could cause serious structural issues. If it's a solid steel section, probably not such an issue.
