    07 NS Shorty build

I named the last thread poorly so had it deleted. So we shall start fresh properly named.

Sold my ss ute. sorta pointless to have, was heap of fun but at the end of the day i needed a bit of a bush basher. so I went and picked up this:

    2007 Mitsubishi Pajero vrx shorty
3.2L DID diesel 5 speed auto

As per the ussual with me.. mods to follow..

    Shes home:

now onto mods... eyeballing the arb sahara bar.. well see where this goes.

And the work has begun. it has a clunk in the rear so a bit of searching found the bushes are shot. so ordered all new poly bushes. should be here for my next break.

went to arb for a quote... walked out with a sahara bar colour coded on route.

then onto tyre fitment, mate had a set on his cruiser.. figured why not. try them. looks good
285/75r16 on a zero offset. massive overhang, but flares can sort that out. they do clear. it needs about 10mm more lift in the photo. it would be tight, but I think a bit of work will have them clearing at full flex.

Straight into it with this girl,

      Safari Snorkel installed:

      Then onto bushes:

Now onto the big bit, timing chain and tensioners, plus the top end has rooted cams we discovered. shes damn near a full strip down

Also my bullbar was colour coded the wrong colour so thats on hold for installing

Ordered all parts required to repair so most of the engine work is on hold.

Onto a stereo swap out, issues all around, someone was in there before me

then the stereo doesnt match, but fits well. that should be sorted asap. this rig is nothing but grief for colour coding....

And the lift rocked up. hit all this in 2 weeks time

          Parts hauler all loaded up:

Decided it was going to be easier to just pull the engine to do the work. timing is a slight pain when you cant see in properly. so and extra hour of work landed me here:

Reassembled and ready to be dropped back in:

Running, and running well. silent. no rattles. stoked. few bits to add and a bullbar to chuck on, then sydney roadtrip to break it in.

Sorta lives, we had it running last night, all good. or so we thought. with 2 guys, we did the ol' he must of tightned it deal on the return fuel line in the head. so she was pumping diesel into the block. and we all know what happens next, if you dont, picture a tradie strip show to get a shirt off to jam in the intake. but i'll give myself a 10/10 on my snorkel install as she was sealed tight.

all buttoned up and running properly. battery tray will be installed tomorrow as I wasnt home for the pick up.

Ill nab a photo of my basha second battery tray too. looks the goods and fits well.

I tip my hat to you mate. Talk about giving it a red hot go!

Building and swapping Datsun motors is one thing, but i don't think I'd attempt this.

Did it over rev before you stopped it? How quick did it all happen?

There are more bolts in the intake side then a whole 4d56t... but I am well versed in moderate to advanced mechanics so at the end of the days its all gotta go back together somehow.

as for over revving I figure by the sound it was making she was spining 5-6000rpm and it was only for about 30 seconds, I have dealt with run away engines before. key off, out of car, kill fuel supply, pull snorkel head off and jam shirt in.

As for todays update, batteries are in and shes 100% mechanical sound.

basha second battery tray, rated for an n70

New stock try made by pihrana as the factory one broke.

                            buttoned up:

Gonna put her to the test and drive it to sydney next break. wish me luck. hahaahah

I just now installed one of the pirahna replacement trays...much firmer than the OEM one...especially once the oem tray pulls the loops out haha
