it was on hold for quite a while with house build and work, but made some good progress lately! I have solved the issue of the traction control and stability control faulting when the Paj engine ECU was removed from the CAN network. I have a raspberry PI computer with CAN interface running in the paj now pretending to be the Paj engine ECU. It took a fair bit of programming etc to get it to work. The traction control works now, no faults, but there is no throttle reduction, just brakes. However, i may actually work in the throttle reduction with the LS anyway. I haven't tested stability control yet, need some higher speed open gravel area or something. Somewhere to test it without wheel spin. So I've put the paperwork in to the department now, and waiting for their approval in principle, then I'll stick in in! Got the engine and gbox out the old paj and cleaned her up.

Oh, I haven't seen this thread before, this is so cool! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe such projects with Pajeros are pretty rare, so it's awesome someone's doing it.2008 Pajero NS V6. Pulled the gearboxes today, and the earlier verification work we did stood up to the final test - gearboxes mate perfectly! Just need to get the extra adaptor made. So final combo will be.. LS1 v8 then GM 4L65E 4spd gbox (with advance adaptors 23t output shaft) then NS original transfer.- Simon

The paj has an electronic throttle, and the LS1 i have has a cable. So I've modified the electronic pedal assembly to handle a cable. Just disassembled the electronic, cut the top off half the housing and welded on the cable end of the NH pajero pedal. Also drilled hole thru dash (perfect spot already there!) and installed the pajero cable junction box. I'll use the NH cruise actuator and the raspberryPI to do the cruise control. Now the raspPI is on CANbus it can detect the speed and the cruise steering wheel buttons.- Simon

Transfer case adapter
Hi Simon, how is the Pajero progressing ? I’m wanting to do this to my NM and my main concern is with the transmission mine has a V5A51 5 speed auto which I quite like but I’m not sure really to to couple it to the GM ? So was thinking of doing transfer case adapter as you are making. Will your adapter fit a Gen 3 transfer ? Does anybody know?
I think this will be my hardest hurdle to overcome.
All the best with your project.

I've got the A/C compressor abd alternator fitted. The Holden A/C compressor normally sits on the driver side on a second belt, but it wpuld not fit here due to the NS pajero steering rack components. So I've used the factory NS Pajero A/C compressor mounted on the passenger side. Advantage to this is obvious, it'll bolt straight up to the car's A/C system, avoiding any customisation there. However, the alternator needed to be moved as a result. I've put that up top where the LS1 belt tensioner used to be, which is a superior spot for a 4wd anyway - to avoid mud & water damage etc. I spun the LS1 tensioner upside down to reverse its action and now all i need is to find the right belt to fit... onto the third attempt today :O
Next up will be radiators and fans- Simon
