I've got a 7" Carjoying Head unit which came with iGO (clunky but workable) but I've been thinking I'd like to get some maps for when we're on Moreton so we can see how we're traveling. What I'd really like is a Satellite image with a road overlay. There won't be mobile data available and I'd prefer not to use Google (but will as a last resort).
I've installed Here We Go on one of the kids old tablets and I'm really impressed - the only issue is that you can't seem to get the satellite view (which is really good) for use with the offline maps. Given the limited functionality for downloading the maps I'm assuming this is down to file size.
I downloaded Ozi for Android and made a map using terra incognita - which was quite straightforward and I also captured the satellite image in a map (but the roads overlay has gone) - and although time consuming this is my next option.
I don't need directions or navigation functionality - just a GPS located picture.
Does anyone do this / have a solution / have any other suggest options?
Disclosure: I'm usually quite good with technical stuff but the world of GPS is new to me. I don't really want to get into the hobby of map making and lower cost is preferred.
Cheers
