    Air Filter height comparison

After doing the Plenty Highway a week ago or so I took out my Wesfil air filter (installed by previous owner) to bang the dust out, and out of curiosity grabbed my spare new Donaldson filter out to compare the two.

The Wesfil is noticeably shorter in height than the Donaldson. As a result the Donaldson is slightly harder to fit when closing the lid but seems to seal much more securely so is worth the extra effort.

I’ve seen this kind of thing mentioned before but never personally seen such a difference myself til now.

Like others, I found the wesfil doesn't seal. You can test that by just pushing on the top air box lid when at idle. I swapped the oem seal onto the wesfil filter to solve that. Interesting on the donaldson, might have to try one. Thanks for the info.

I just buy the Donaldson filters now, they feel like good quality and they fit well.

            Air filters again.
Recently purchased a filter kit RSK8 ,the air filter measurements have changed from previous ones I have purchased.
The air filter is too tight and very difficult to get it to sit in properly and locate the two lugs ,also way too much tension on the spring clips.
The filter area is approx 5mm wider and 3 to 4mm longer than others of the same brand I have had before.
Looks like the last purchase of this brand for me .
            NT Exceed ,almost stock .

So Im having problems with the Ryco A1449 air filters and wondering if Im the only one ?.
My previous filter was a Ryco made in Thailand ,this time its made in China and its filter area dimensions are quite a bit larger than the old filter resulting in too tight a fit .
Anyway its looks like I will be buying another brand from now on ...

No worries , I use fleetguard on most of my other vehicles ,
and I just bought this Ryco filter set on a good discount ,but the Chinese Ryco air filter is a really poor fit and will be going into the bin ...

Yep I complained to Ryco and they said there was a filter update in August (previous filter was manafactured in June} and sent me another one ,its exactly the same dimensions an too bloody tight for my liking .....

Its bin material ,pity China doesnt take their own junk back as recyclables anymore .

The Fleetgaurd LF3830 oil filter is only a full flow filter. Ryco LF372 and the AC Delco AC056 oil filter
are a combination filter meaning by-pass and full flow, better for the engine. Mitsubishi oil filter is a combination filter.
