Rare Mitsubishi Jeep – ereerr … what ?

Well, I might be showing my ignorance, but just wondering if this is correct – the wife spotted it on Gumtree.

A bloke has been advertising a Mitsubishi Jeep – reckons it is rare as rocking horse do-do. Maybe it is because he has the only one! Thought I’d throw it out there to see if there was ever such a thing.

    Here’s the link …
Find Cheap and Discounted New and Used Cars, Vans & Utes available in Coraki 2471, NSW. Buy and sell almost anything on Gumtree classifieds.

    Photo’s is from the advert.

    Cheers

    Apparently so!
The production of jeeps by Mitsubishi motors of Japan started with producing jeeps under licence from Willys corporation USA. Over 30 different Jeep models were produced based on the CJ-3B body style, and built in Japan under licence from Willys from 1953 through 1998. Mitsubishi Motors announced on 4 June 1998 that it would stop production of Jeep models, 45 years after their commercial debut in Japan. The Tokyo-based automaker produced its last Jeep in August. Well, how about that !! You learn something every day.

I would expect they'd be a pretty sturdy vehicle. I'll have to send the photo to a friend of mine who has restored a WWII Jeep and tell him he should have bought a Mitsubishi !!

My father had one back in Sri Lanka. It was a 1968 LWB Diesel. All original except the alloy wheels and fog lights. No power steering, no air conditioner, cannot adjust the driver's seat and very loud. Pretty awesome vehicle to drive. It is still a popular classic 4WD in Sri Lanka.

Just like the the green one in the photo, only that my father's one was navy blue.

One thin about the air con., there are three flaps that you can open for extra ventilation. One just below the windscreen, other two in front of the driver's and passenger's doors.

There are a few over here in nue Ziland, 2.7 turbo diesel, Dana axles and a beam front axle! Cart springs though! A mate had one for a while, was a bit of a beast but oh so dusty to travel in.
