    Not sure about this motor in particular, but generally speaking the best way to get more power out of a turbo diesel is to replace the factory exhaust with a more free flowing system.

        I doubt you'd get much of a power gain from a snorkel (still a worthy investment though) and generally a chip will have best results where the exhaust has been upgraded.

          As it's a 2.8TD and not a 3.2 DiD, I'd go..............
          1. extractors; *****what was I thinking???????
          2. 2.5" mandrel exhaust with free flowing muffler (or none at all) etc;
          3. snorkel;
          4. injectors and pump serviced;
          5. upgrade turbo.

            Extractors with a turbo? Are you sure you don't mean a high flow manifold and dump pipe?

              Best gains will be a larger dump pipe and a 2.5 to 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust.

              Having owned a 1KZ-TE Hilux this mod gave me easily 20% more power.

              You could also invest in a larger intercooler. Not cheap but again more power.

                  Not a cheap option. Possible 15% power gain for $4500 - rebate.

                  Also need to watch your EGT with this setup.

                  Just up the boost to 20psi and turn the fuel up a bit.

                    Hi,

                    I'm running the 4M40 2.8 with mech injection pump, how do you up the fuel a bit?

                    I know how to boost the pressure but then have the EGR blow off problem. How will extra fuel help?

                    Thanks
