3.2 Did injectors, when to get cleaned?

    Hi all,

Do the injectors on a 3.2 Did ever need cleaning and if so at what mileage normally?

    thanks

Mitsubishi run a relearn program which checks the flow of the injector, it's called a small quality learn this also recalibrates & adjusts for wear etc.
This is normally done at every 45,000klms A small check is also done at every 15,000k service on the exhaust gases which would lead to further investigation if needed.

(3.2DID Injector pump & common rail models)

      Hope that helps.

      Gus.

The injector calibration can only be done on the common rail motors. The pre-common rail motors are fairly "dumb".

When we were chasing all the faults in mine they pulled the injectors and had the spray patterns checked. At 100,000km they suggested they were a bit "off" and had them cleaned. But they were so bad post cleaning that the dealers opted to put a fresh set in. But after a new pump and a fresh set of injectors my NP DID does not run any different at all in terms of performance.

If it's running fine, starting properly and not blowing black smoke all the time leave it alone IMHO.

            Thanks for the replys.

Mine is running good, but just wasnt sure if they needed cleaning at a certain time like the older school diesels.

Was thinking of getting mine chipped one day as it has a 2.5" free flow mandrel bent exhaust and a bigger intercooler so a good tune might make these mods a bit more worth while. Had a thought that a tuner might ask me when my injectors were cleaned etc

spiderpig, I would be interested to see a pic, and hear more about the bigger intercooler
Do the exhaust, and intercooler make a lot of difference??

Its a 3.2 Did in a NL short wheel base, hence the need for a custom intercooler. Some of the older guys on here might remember my truck.

Not sure if it makes much difference but the exhaust def does, turbo seems to spool up a bit faster.

Yeah it was fairly straight forward physicaly fitting/bolting it in. Tricky part was sorting out the wiring. Did the swap myself at home over about 3 months.

Engine had 80k on it when i bought it and has done another 110k in my truck and hasnt missed a beat once, so pretty stoked.
