    Where were Gen 3s made?


    Can anyone advise where the Gen 3s released in Australia were made?

    Any idea how many Gen 3s might have been sold in Australia?

    Also at roughly what time was the timing chain guide replaced with the new re-engineered model?

    Not sure there was a re-engineered guide, As far as MMA is concerned there was nothing wrong with them originally.

      Mine is one of the last NPs made & it had the old style guide fitted. Mine was in perfect condition when replaced at about 120K.

      Will do the valve adjustment again in a couple of months, will see how the new design is holding up.

        NM to present is Japan, Gen 1 Japan only (?) & gen 2's were made in a few diffrent place around the world.

          Gen2 is still being made in Colombia
          2000 SWB NL 3.5 SOHC V6 AT.
          Adjustable suspension, Rear Locker, Suspension Seats, Cruise Control, 8500 Lbs winch, all factory fitted.
          31x10.5R15 Pirelli ATR?s and forever thinking on the lift.
          2009 SWB NS 3.2 DOHC DID AT 265/70/17 BFG AT/KO, OME SD Springs +4 Rear locker, 8.500 Lbs Winch...new toy!!!

            now 1994 80 series cruiser diesel wagon
            bull bar side steps, mags,dual batt system,2 waecos 35lt,40lt h/reese towbar,103amp agm batt, 500w inverter. narva spotties, uniden uh7700nb uhf 40 ch narrow band, 2.5kva inverter generator

              Nop, they were made after japanese production stopped and with lower specs. Anyways it would be very strange as freight would be much higer from Colombia.

              For all cars you need to check the VIN number, first digit show origin (J Japan)

                Yep made in Columbia. Going from your VIN Pete it was ordered for a Esteban Eliaz who was a kingpin in the drug trade at that time Apparently they would stash a few kilo's of Acapulco Gold in the rear quarters and drive across the border in it .
                Sometimes you will get a sniff of residue left over (explains a lot ) then you will know it's a Columbian built Paj. Only Escape models Pete, Exceed ,GLS,GLX and Gl were built in Japan

                    Built in Japan BUT not all Japanese parts!
