Gearbox: 5th gear tapping noise help.

Hi.
My 1987 mk1, 2.5td manual gear is giving me some trouble. 😭
When I drive in 5th gear it make a low rattle/tapping sound. I am pretty Shure it comes from the gearbox. It is the same even if I press the throttle or just roll in gear. Other than that it works perfectly.
Any ideas what i could be?

Hi mate does the noise get louder going uphill ? ie when there is more load on the drivetrain
