    Rain-X Headlight Restoration

    Gday,
My headlights were looking a bit milky, so I bought a Rain-X headlight restoration kit, Supercheap had it on sale for $30.00.
From when I went to do it to completion took just under 1.5 hours. Got to say, very impressed so far. The passenger side is not as good as the drivers side, so i might do that again as there is enough of the kit left.
    Cheers,
    Andrew.

I did the same but using "Mothers® PowerBall 4Lights Headlight". It took ~15 minutes per light. Two months later lights are blurry again not as bad as used to be but far from perfect. Manual says re-apply protection every month by hand.

Has been said that you have to re coat a UV coating to the lens' otherwise they will deteriorate again rapidly.

Polycarbonate is very susceptible to UV damage. Can happen real quick if you do a restoration on the lens and don't give it some protection.

Acrylic headlight covers will stop most of the damage to the lenses, as will an automotive two pack clearcoat. Opti-coat also has had some very good reviews.

The Rain-X does come with a clear coat protectant, so hopefully it is enough to keep them looking good.

Glassylite is another brand of Headlight Restoration Kit available from most auto parts stores.
The Nano sealant that is in the kit is brilliant did my wife's car 2 years ago still looks the same.
                    Check it out at http://www.glassylite.com.au/

I think I've used just plain old car polish one time, then another time I used the lambswool buffing wheel when giving the car a polish. Both ways the lights came up like new, and with both ways the lights after a few months went back looking faded again

I just did my lights with this same kit on Sunday as one light had been replaced after a curious roo decided to take a closer look at it @ 100km and left the old one looking a little sad. I bought the kit basically for the protectant pray to keep it looking nice. I will also get a set of headlight covers to shield them from further uv light. In short great kit, cheap just requires elbow grease.
