  • MMCS Questions/Answers

    Hi Guys,

I though I might start this thread for MMCS owners to ask questions and get answers.

Not so much in regards to technical information I know there are a few threads that already have that info.

    I'll start.

I recently installed a MMCS into my RX (bought it 2nd hand).
Works like a charm however I cannot seem to get the MMCS to display a night map when it's night (shock horror I know).

I have checked the clock settings (switched from 24hr to 12hr and back)
the map settings have been toggled between AUTO -> DAY -> NIGHT and back again.

It always displays the Day colours/map which is too bright for night time driving.

Anyone with an MMCS can you verify that the changing from day / night maps work?

Also anything else I might have missed when I've been trying to troubleshoot?

    Cheers

    Anthony.

    Another Tip:

    Ejecting Map DVD
In the unlikely case that you MMCS "hangs" and none of the buttons are clickable

    a) Click Tilt
    b) Once the screen tilts, click the screen on the top right hand corner.

As far as day/night map goes, my MMCS only seems to change only if I turn the lights on or off.
Even if I have the park or fog lights on, the map goes dull, or as you say, into night time mode. Of course it may depend on my settings.

Good on you Anthony getting this thread going, it should be popular, once it gets known.
    Cheers, Tony.

Thanks Tony for the encouragement and the answer.

However I want to clarify what you said re your display going dull.

The night and day map colours are more than going dull.

The day map has a white background and the night map is a black background. Does your's do this or does it only go dimmer?

You can check out the day/night maps by going into MENU, User Settings from memory and manually choosing the day/night setting and then checking out the MAP display to see what they look like.

      Anthony.

Well, yes you could be right, because when I first set it up, I may have set it up for day-time maps only, as I'm not a great fan of the black background.
          I'll check it out tomorrow.
          Cheers, Tony.

I have set the lights to auto - the map to auto day/night and have adjusted the screen contrast - using the display button. The combo automatically switches the map to night mode when the headlights switch themselves on. The nighttime screen is a dark green colouring.

Other voice commands I find useful are dual map mode and single map mode - especially when in destination mode.
            Regards

              Thanks Rory,

I just went down to the car and played around with the settings again, but had no luck.

I suspect that this is because I have an RX and have installed an MMCS unit.

it could be that I don't have the necessary wiring connected to trigger the MMCS unit from knowing the headlights are on or off.

Although curiously, using the service menu the mmcs unit does detect when I switch the lights on and off.

One thing that could help is, could you or anyone else find out what Car Type Setting and Handle Setting your mmcs returns when you are in the service mode?

              Cheers
              Anthony

              SUCCESS!

My mmcs now does the automatic dimming of display and change to night maps (when set to AUTO)

I went into the service menu and changed the CAR TYPE from 3M41 (what car this is I don't know) to 3M45 (as reported by RJOther to be the NT Exceed)

                Hi Guys,

Is there any chance one of you could put up a list of voice commands for the mmcs?
I've searched the net and cannot find a list.
I've downloaded a manual but it's for a yank model and that doesn't list voice commands either.

                While I'm pushing my luck

Does anyone have the MMCS manual in electronic format so I may have a read?

                      Turn off the bleeping beeps

Does anyone know how to turn off the "beep" you hear every time you press a button on the MMCS? I managed to fix it on my Pajero but we have a new Pajero in the family belonging to my step father and I can't remember how I did it. I've tried everything and it's really annoying me. If someone can help that would be appreciated.

                        press menu
got to Navigation options (or something similar)
go to user settings (or something similar)
page 2 has turn off beeps.

                          You're not wrong!!!!
Where'd you get all that info from Rory?? Did you go out every night for a week to "talk" to your MMCS??
I'll have to take a printed copy of all those commands and go out and have a "Chat" myself.

[edit] Hmmm, just had a thought, and I had better have a look, because the next thing you're going to tell me is....."have a look at your manual!!!"

Well, I guess it's no worse than arguing with the Nav system. Especially when its a 3 way conversation with myself, my wife and the woman's voice on the navigation system.
She always says (my wife) your not going the same way as the Nav said.....lol.
And so it goes on, we all been there.

For those that can't be bothered doing a 'Print Screen'........MMCS Sat Nav Voice Commands.doc
