    NM Front Wheel bearings......Again!!!

Ok, I've done a very quick search of the forum and couldn't find wht I'm after?

I replaced the front left wheel bearing in Febuary last year. It's just imploded again! Is this normal? How long should these last? Is there a problem with these bearings I can takie to Mitsu to try to get some satisfaction?

As always I look forward to your replies.

yes my mechanic only use genuine MM parts. I can state this as I always get the given the receipts from MM - his idea, not my request.

If the driveshaft nut wasn't done up to somewhere near it's torque spec it could cause it to fail.

            - No it has an extream amount of lateral movement. It's being replacved tomorrow, so hopefully that will be the last one before I upgrade.

I'll raise that tomorrow, however having spoken to the service managers of the two closest MM dealers before I had the last one done, they both confirmed independantly that the units are fully sealed throw away items!

Ok my bad it seems theyre a completely different unit in the Gen3's.

Did they replace the whole hub assembly with it? i wouldnt expect any problems this soon after if they were done properly

But then again strange things happen.

I believe the entire hub unit gets replaced as it is fully sealed. Irrespective, unless there is some form of 'mechanical' force applied, like hitting a kerb at speed or the like I agree, the unit should last 180k like the originals. this one has lasted around 20k only hence the originial question. If this has been an ongoing issue the MM knows about - like a dodgy batch then it should be a MM replacement. We'll chase this up, but I had hoped for some assistance form fellow members who have experienced similar problems. Either way I'll be $500 lightrer in the back pocket tomorrow arvo.

did the entire hub get replaced? the non gen bearings do fail quickly, i have never heard of a genuine one fail that quick, u do get a 20,000km warranty on gen parts

Yes the entire unit got replaced. Just checked the receipt. 21500k travelled since the replacement. Original MM hub assey, $495 total cost parts and labour. 20K - probably missed that one then!
