    Gen 4 Headlight replacement

    Hey Team,

Im posting this based on the cheaper aftermarket headlight as I found no reviews or information on this product.

I replaced my headlight on my NS today taking about 1 hour to complete. I purchased the below linked headlight assembly which is a cheaper aftermarket copy. the headlight itself it not to bad and is easy to adjust the direction on the light its the process of retrieving one bolt on the corner hidden behind the bumper.

I ended up unclipping half of the flare and half of the bumper to get to the bolt. with a lot of cursing and scratched hands the old headlight was out. inserting the new headlight was no dramas except for lining all 4x of the holes up.

For you OCD people like myself:
After installing I noticed the old headlight had some blacked out spots inside the light, whereas the new one is completely chrome/ mirrored.

What they mean by "Manual, no motor" in the eBay ad?

My guess is they are not suitable for vehicles with OEM HID lights as they are self levelling.

Some models have electric adjustment of the headlamp level. This means its manual only......by turning adjusting screws yourself.

Some of the cheap aftermarket headlights are pretty average quality. It's a bit of a lottery since there are a few factories making them now. Apart from the projectors and reflectors being lower quality and having poor output, other problems I've seen include poor or no breathers, very soft plastic in the backshell and lenses that cloud very quickly and even warp with heat. Although difficult to justify the ridiculous price asked for genuine lights, they are much better quality.

Yes, the VR-X had the blacked out sections. Also some of the special value packs and some SWBs. Having a different light on one side to the other would drive me insane.

              You sure about that?

As i said above I think they are for self levelling OEM HID.

Yeah thats what i meant, probably didnt make it clear. The electric adjustment is for the self leveling HID. So im guessing that the manual only headlights aren't for self leveling models.
