Its likely the next pajero will be joint with nissan patrol. Mitsubishi was much further along with gen 5 when it was shelved 2015/16.

They are waiting for the fruits of their joint venture with bosch and yuasa to deliver battery tech that has the goal of 50%weight and cost reduction with double the power by 2020. They acquired a solid state battery tech firm in 2015 as part of this.

Also, Nissan may have shelved the y61 patrol here but it is still selling into the middle east which is where most pajero sales are too.

You've just got to hope that the image we are seeing is the car with the camouflage panels still plastered all over the real shell.

"The XM name is a fusion of “X” for crossover and “M” for MPV – the concept described as blending “the toughness of an SUV with the versatility of an MPV”. It fits in nicely with MMC’s brand image and Dakar-winning off-road heritage nicely. We’re not sure if the XM name and the bold looks of the concept will make it to production, but it will be good for the brand if it did."

Please tell me someone is taking the mickey.

The production XM will roll out later this year from MMC’s new plant in Bekasi, which has started producing the Pajero Sport
