From reports on here, a few have - both workshops & DIY have made mistakes.
I think both this & short runs have contributed to some of the dramas.
Some DPFs certainly need careful management and with secondhand vehicles it can be difficult to determine what condition the DPF is in or how it has been used/maintained.

        Fair's fair...........

Dealers have much heavier overheads to cover than your average 'around the corner' workshop. Not to mention manufacturer distributor controls.

          On this topic...
Several times I tried to buy some parts from MM here in New Zealand in order to do the service myself. I don't remember all the parts but it was stuff I expected them to have, for example an inlet manifold gasket that needs to be replaced when changing spark plugs, some other gaskets, etc. Not only they didn't have them, they would have to order from Japan because they didn't have them anywhere in NZ.

So I guess they don't bother and reuse whatever they can during service?
Also they said they could not change trans filter for me because it's never really required and they don't do it.

If you are happy to pay the prices to cover their flashy service centre and free coffee and all the apprentices, then that's up to you... I'd rather save the $600 odd a year on average I have been better off.

As for stocking everything - Most independent workshops can get under 2hr deliveries form any of the dealers. I have often been at my mechanic and he will get 4 or 5 deliveries a day for the items they need.
Client drops off vehicle at 8am - inspected, parts ordered - before 9am - delivered by 11am, vehicle serviced and cleaned and parked out front awaiting pick up...

Now, They are a pajero specialist - so they have all the filters and plugs and oils etc needed in stock for what they service most, in both genuine and Non-genuine and offer the customer the option depending on their budget / under warranty or not etc....
