Again on Upper Dargo River has drop dunny but is very popular.

Yes they are Peter. If you look at a Hema map of the High Country they are Easterly and Northerly positions. Sort of like Latitiude and Longitude but a metric system.

they are a grid reference system used with maps surveyed under the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84)

there are 4, 6, 8 and 10 figure grid references.

4 figure reference is a 1km grid square
6 figure reference is accurate to within 100 m
8 figure reference accurate to within 10 m
10 figure reference accurate to within 1 m

All this talk of High Country is making me insanely jealous and reminiscent.

There are so many EXCELLENT camping spots through that area, I could list off UTM's all bloody night.

Its been a couple of years since my last visit, can't wait for the next one, but that probably won't be until next year!
