    Pirelli Scorpion ATR

    Hi all

After having enough of tyre roar from the old Mickey T's that were 75% worn and doing alot of research went and got 5 new Scorpion ATR in 265/60/18, standard size for my SWB X. $1550 fitted with 4 wheel alignment at Bob Janes, Moonah, Tasmania.

Dont want to start a slanging match as eveyone has differing opinions on tyres but thought I'd provide feedback on my choice. Not a full on review but will up date occasionally as the tyres wear.

Reason for my choice........my NS is a daily driver, don't do the full off road tracks anymore, just the occasional gravel road....probably 95% bitumen. So wanted a quiet road tyre that could handle the odd dirt road. Did look at a normal road tyres but for the price the Scorpions were around $100 cheaper a tyre.

Know there a few of us out there that dont do the full on trecking and just want a decent road or light ATR tyre for our everyday drive.

So initial thoughts.......very happy with road noise, or lack of........can now hear the engine!
Paj feels solid on the bitumen but have only done a few kms since having them fitted. Not tested in rain yet but it is Tassie so that shouldnt be too long away.

Will up date as I go along.

Personally, for the use you've described, I'd say the Pirelli Scorpions are an excellent choice - and the price seems pretty good too.

I look forward to following your updates.

          I run Scorpions too.

Mainly on the road, annual Fraser trip and I did a Craigs Hut run over Cup Day weekend.

          Awsome tyre.

Only done a few hundred kms with the new rubber but still very impressed. Did a day on wet bitumen and felt very secure in the corners. Only done about 20kms on gravel roads but again felt good on road.

On a side note just wants to say how good the service was at Bob Janes in Moonah, Tasmania........good price, great service etc.

I have had them for over 50k on my NL (LT 31x10.5x15) and have a very good impression of them both on and off road.

Pay attention though that there are 2 versions of the ATR (in fact 3 but the third is only for small size crossovers) and haven´t been able to differenciate them by codes or other but I think the difference is between the P and the LT tire that has more agressive shoulders.

                        first, rounded shoulder

                        Second, agressive shoulder

31x10.5R15 Pirelli ATR?s and forever thinking on the lift.

I read that while googling last weekend

I read there was 2, have to check a bit more see what's going on

The LT's are stronger side wall?

LT construction has a higher load index so they are stronger in both the tread and sidewall compared to a Passenger construction radial.

I went with the rounded shoulders as they were all I required.

Tyres still going great, bloody love them to be honest!
