    Power Window Motors

    Hey crew,

I've got an NG Superwagon 1990 model.
The power windows are getting a bit slow, and the drivers side one is intermittently working. My call is brushes are stuffed.
Are these an easy thing to replace?

Can I get aftermarket motors to replace them, or am I best off finding a wreckers?

There is a bloke up near me who repairs and rewinds small motors – he made some new brushes for my electric seat motor. If you make some enquiries down where you live you might find someone like that – look for someone who rewinds motors for motor bikes and the likes.

    Cheers

Have you tried some silicone spray inside the window slides.

            Hey Jones12

My old NF went through a similar issue. I took the door skin off and cleaned all the accumulated crud from the window mechanism then lubricated. Also did the silicon spray down the window tracks.

One switch was alsi a bit dicky. I did manage to take it apart and cleaned up contacts inside. Unfortunately it was many years ago and i can't remember exactly what I did. Anyway all worked fine after that.

              Thanks mate!
I actually cleaned the tracks with compressed air and lubricated with silicone spray, then cleaned out and re-soldered some of the contacts on the relay PCB and it seems to be working fine now. I may need to replace relays in the future but we'll see how it goes

              Cheers!

Contact cleaner (Jaycar) can also work wonders in power window switches that have accumulated crud.
