tappets on 4d56 diesel

mitsubishi pajero 1992 nh diesel 4d56. can anybody please tell gap setting for tappets on a cold engine. the setting on a warm engine is 0.25mm thanks.do i have to remove top timing belt cover.

I've always been told to adjust tappets on a warm motor, Never a cold motor.
