Default 1988 Pajero

Hi all,

First time post and I have a question I thought would be best to ask the owners of the loved Pajero!!

I have a 1988 Pajero which I think is as close to mint condition as a 30 year old 4wd could be. Its a 2.5 Inter-cooled Turbo Diesel wagon with a auto box.
It is called THE 088.....

I am looking at modifying it so I can do some more 4wd around the south of WA, 3 main things, lift 2", winch and snorkel along with light and some other normal stuff.....

The issue I have is that this seems to be a rare car (I have only ever seen 2 in south west WA and they weren't turbo diesels), I am wondering what peoples opinion is to modifying this bus......should it be left as totally original?

Cheers.

Nice bus,

Go ahead and modify how ever you like. I have a 90 NG import shorty and I love it to bits.

I,d leave it and buy another 4wd to do up. Nice vehicle...adding all the mod bullshit will not make it any more reliable or desirable. Mint is best for a 30 year old.

I hope this report helps you save a few bucks on diesel henceforth by understanding that the main ingredient, by volume, in premium diesel is in fact marketing bullshit.

Mate, I have the same model, same year...mine is a 5 speed.
I have owned it for 15 years. I bought it in Japan.
I was there a few months ago and saw another in mint condition...goes to show how much the owner valued it.
You have a wonderful vehicle..do not modify it... note that an original swb landcruiser just sold for nearly $20 grand last week and a swb turbo diesel Pajero like yours is on its way to do the same in original condition. I have mine insured for 8K BUT ITS PROBABLY NOT ENOUGH.
Does yours have badges on the gaurds 1988 car of the year...? Mine has these but never seen another.
Best vehicle i have owned.
Look after it...
Dave

Dave - No, just the normal Pajero badge...nothing about car of the year. cheers for your opinion.

I think I will kit it out with the normal stuff (Lights, roof rack, awning etc) but as far as the car itself, i will leave it original for the time being. Love driving this car around. You get a lot of looks and I have even had a few blokes shop stop me to talk about it!!

Cheers to everyone who has replied!

Default A few mods

Made a few small mods to the 088 over the weekend. Nothing major, just a light bar and a 2-way.
