There are two different sorts of cylinder heads on 4d56t engines. There is one with protruding valves and cylinder heads with recessed valves.
Does anyone know a breakdown of when heads with recessed valves were used and when heads with protruding valves were brought in. Was it between certain years of manufacture that heads with recessed valves were used or were protruding valves only on import models? Or why Mitsubishi brought out two different types? Hopefully someone on here can shed some light. Are they interchangeable? or do protruding valve heads have recesses in the piston top? |

I do not think they are interchangeable, there are shallow cutouts in the pistons for the valves on protruding models.
I think there might be 4 head types if you include the twin cam. My 1990 NG has protruding type valves (photo attached of the brand new head which is now for sale, just PM me if interested) Last edited by Ran; 23-04-18 at 05:22 PM. |
