Does it retain the MY12 specification?

Nice try Placido Maybe your dealer should be telling you what specs your VRX will have and not have.

Well my guess would be the GLS is dropped and we now have the GLX-R. The fact that the my13 is nothing new and based on the my12 it would be a safe bet that your my13 VRX will be the same as the my12 plus a few extras. Things generally only go backwards when a brand new shape/model come out. When the basic car is the same they have to offer you more in the new model, this may be more power out of the same engine or a few extras for free that we're previously at a cost. So I wouldn't be too worried that your my13 VRX will be missing anything that the my12 has

Diff lock is standard now across the MY13 range

Purchased a MY13 GLX-R on on 28 December and dashed out a quick trip Melb-Sydney-Melb up there for New Year. Very short delivery time [ordered on Xmas eve] so it did not have tow bar or tinting [These being done today with first service]. I do like the rear Aircon. No kids but do have dogs/goat ;-) actually I liked sitting in the back, when being driven by co-driver, with leaned back seat and rearmost A/C outlet on face. Works well. Complete trip 9.5 l/100Km including some hilly suburban Sydney driving. Have moved back to a real 4wd from a xtrail and so far no complaints. [previous 4WD experience - Jeep, Landcruiser, Landrover, International Scout, Musso, Patrol]
Got vehicle for said $54,990 plus $1K Westfield (?) discount [covered the fitting of towbar]. Last owned a Mitsub about 26 years ago - 1600 Starwagon which was a cut and shunt job but excellent for all that [c&t done by a vehicle rebuilding co.]
Other vehicles considered... Prado $10K more for basically same features,
Pathy [from being pleased with the x-trail] but too many issues with motor and G/B to be happy and concerned re OME tow bars . [also it drives like a truck - if I'd wanted a Patrol I'd have bought one].
Good enough deal for me to purchase a new vehicle as I was looking for a 'Year-older' .
Haven't used the 4WD in anger yet but learned my 4WDing in exploration for brown coal. Learned very quickly that 4wd is for getting you OUT of trouble - not into it!

Thanks for that feedback. I am keen to buy one will be out scouting the dealers next week. I think it represents good value still some Platinums around that the dealer "might be able to get" but I think for the extra K4 for the platinum the only useable item for me would be the MMCS which from what I have seen on this forum is not that good (that's an understatement). So I would figure spending K2 for a decent MMCS replacement and good to go overall ahead. So I'm off to listen to dealers talk crap to me now.
Thanks to some advice on another thread I will pay cash no trade and knowing what I want end up ringing around.

                              Cheers

I was quite happy with my trade in 5yo[ X-trail with 150K on the clock and a few dings and scratches]. Hoped for and got a $10K trade in. As far as GPS: just stuck my trusty old TomTom on the top of the dash and am quite happy with that. I'll be looking for a GPS that will also be suitable for cross country work when I get to replace the 'Tim Tam' [as my wife calls it] so not interested in the Mistub one....[Could always use my Phone I suppose. Two different navigators on that and it's got a bigger screen than the TomTom.]
