    NJ Front Diff swap

I'm wanting to swap the front diff on my NJ Auto from the 7.25 over to the 8.00.
I read on another site by a fellow who did this and he said the axles or CV's on the two diffs were different. So in order to fit the 8.00 diff I would also need the axles and/or CV's.

Can anybody confirm this for me please.

I was going to refit my axles and CV's into the 8.00 diff.

My Auto has just shat itself so might have to attend to that first.

    Thank you.

Call me obvious, but you are going to replace the rear diff centre as well...?

      Hey Yonnie,
I do have the rear diff aswell but wasn't going to change that because according to the vehicle specs the ratio's are the same. 4.875.

It looks like I'll have to just go ahead with it.
          I'll post my findings.

            G'day Ike,
Due to various reasons I haven't done it yet. I still plan to but other things keep popping up. I had to replace the heads again.
I have everything I think I need except time at the moment.
Until it becomes a necessity it's on the back burner.
            Regards
            Gary

from what i have been able to find out about this (as i'm looking at doing it so i can install a front lokka) is that the left hand cv shaft requires to be replaced.
its a case of undoing the drive shaft from the flange, undo the 3 mounting bolts on the diff housing, undo the bolts on the RH cv shaft then remove the dust cover then circlip on the LH side and the vacumme hose from the actuator then remove the diff towards the rh side of the vehicle and replace with the new one.
                Cheers Murray
p.s. I have also looked into fitting a front diff from a gen1 to get rid of the actuator operated front diff. The Nh i got my manual hubs off had the gen1 style diff fitted to the front of it from the factory, mind you it was a base model.

It looks as though the Padj 3.0 V6 (NH-NJ) has different driveshafts again to account for the super select stuff maybe?????. part numbers #751 RHS, #750(auto) or 752(manual) LHS

From the sounds of what Martin7 has said the super select RHS could possibly be removed from a NH-NJ and replaced with one from a NF-NG without the super select as finding a NF-NG 8" diff might be a bit hard and I just don't like the super select system!!!
as you can see by the part no's included in here the rhs shaft is the same on both auto and man and the left differs between the 2. speaking with a mate at a mitsubishi wreckers some of the gen2 pajeros came without super select and these diffs are the same as the gen1 models. Also those that came without super select had manual hubs.
