so far the only ones I know to recieve letters are those whose cars are in for valuation and being contested - I do know 3 who have gone in with the buy back letter and been booked for replacment without a replacement letter

Haven’t received letter.

Called a dealer, was very specific when I asked about the Nadi 5at recall for the NL Pajero. They said yes to replacement. 2wks for parts; mine goes in in about 4 days for replacement.

No letter yet but my NL goes in on Tuesday for the replacement. All the dealer wanted was the VIN.

Default NL airbag replacement

Just been following with interest this unfolding approach of MMA on the replacement of the airbag in my NL Pajero

I received 2 notifications to buy back the last being 1 month ago
Because some owners have reported that MMA are now replacing the faulty airbag I decided to phone the service department at Motorama Mitsubishi to establish what is happening
I was advised that the buy back has been change to repair and was offered a booking next week I wanted the job done

However when I asked what time frame they needed the vehicle for a 1 hour job they informed me that they needed it for the whole day to enable them to check the vehicle over
I am suspicious of what they mean so I have decided to hold of for the moment to make every thing on the vehicle acceptable at the time of inspection

When I arrange a booking in a couple of weeks I will post again and let every one know what happened

It’s in as we speak. Was told they only work on the airbag, nothing more with the vehicle. Inspect it first to make sure it’s in fact a recalled unit, then replace if needed.

One hour job apparently, and they are working on it straight away, so I’m not walking the 20-or-so mins home just to turn around and come back so soon.

Also, parent’s NL GLS is in right now too for the airbag (at a different location though).

The Escape is done. 2.5hrs it took; they said it’s the first one they’ve replaced and it took a little learning- it wasn’t straight plug and play apparently and there was some wire cutting/new connectors or plugs or something like that involved.

Either way, my paperwork says the replacement has been carried out. No fuss.

Still no letter from MMAL re a fix being available. They’ve also failed to reply to a number of emails on the matter. At a national level their customer service is abysmal.

At a local level in the ACT, the service at the dealership I dealt with was commendable.
Car in, done and available for collection within three hours.

I wonder if MMAL will now formally notify me my car is off the recall list? Just hang on a moment whilst I duck outside and see if there are any pigs flying over ......
